Bed bugs are insects that crawl around your mattress and that are only visibly active when you are asleep. If you are ever wondering why some people are bitten on the same bed and others are not, people with higher body temperatures are more likely to be bitten by bed bugs compared to lower body temperatures!

What are the signs of an infestation?

Some signs of a bed bug infestation include:

  • Black marks surrounding the edges of your mattress

  • Black dots on timber bed slats or on nearby joinery of your furniture (for example your side table)

How often should I be treating for Bed Bugs?

As part of our General Pest Control service which should be conducted every 10 months, you should be covered for Bed Bugs and other general pests. However if you have a frequent amount of visitors who board or stay over, it is recommended to maintain a high level of hygiene and cleanliness.

Airing out your mattress by removing all bedding and leaving it in the sun for 3-4 hours every 3 months will significantly reduce the risk of an infestation.

Please note: Bed bugs services do NOT have a warranty due to their versatile travelling nature. We will kill them on the spot on the day of service, but they can always come back in on clothing and furniture that you’re bringing back into the house.

If you have a bed bug problem on your mattress or couch we always recommend you throw them away. If you don’t know which items are infested ask one of our friendly experts and they can give you directions!

TIP

If you squish or squash bed bugs, the blood marks left behind will be used to breed more bed bugs!
